BOSS LOOT is a mini supplement for Daggerheart that helps you, the GM, in creating unique loot that fits into one of three categories.
TROPHIES
A part of the boss that enhances a weapon with a certain effect.
HIDES
A part of the boss that enhances a piece of armor with a certain effect
ESSENCE
A trinket from the boss that can be made into a unique item.
As a GM, you prepare these three items before the boss fight, and apply the effects appropriate for the type of monster they are facing.
Let's try looting again now:
The Spider Queen drops her fang (TROPHY), her leg (HIDE) and her eye (ESSENCE).
The fang can be imbued into a weapon to deal + 1d6 poison damage on a successful hit!
The leg can be imbued into a piece of armor to give advantage on Action Rolls to climb!
The essence can be worn in a necklace to gain a +1 bonus to Instinct Rolls!
As the GM, decide whether the items need Hope spent in order to function or if the effects are everlasting.
This 2-page PDF serves as a guideline. For narrative purposes, the loot should make sense for the adversary, making the fight all the more memorable for your players. Exactly what the boss grants your players is up to you.
