“In the small, isolated town of Dryfield, the Devil of the Desert refuses to stay dead. One year after the group captured the infamous outlaw, unsettling omens spread across the valley: a sun that won’t return, shadows that won’t sit still, heat that burns like Hell itself… Ezekiel was hanged for his crimes—everyone saw it. And yet Dryfield holds its breath as chaos is rising.”
"Rope and Blood" is a western-fantasy scenario for Daggerheart, heavily inspired by the Colossus of the Drylands campaign frame. No colossi appear in this story, but the scenario can easily serve as the opening chapter of a longer campaign in that setting—either set before the colossi awaken or far from their influence.
Include the "Pistolero" subclass and the "Undead" ancestry.
The tone is gritty and dust-choked, in the spirit of a classic Sergio Leone spaghetti western. The themes are harsh and the world is unforgiving. Still, this frontier is touched by magic. Even if it lies beyond most people’s reach, magic itself is not shocking, and the PCs’ powers do not automatically terrify NPCs. The world of "Rope and Blood" is also rich in ancestral and cultural diversity: settlers of the New World mingle freely, and Dryfield is home to all manner of folk—from humans and dwarves to the stranger ribbets and fungils.
