Behir
Adversary overview
An incredibly long creature with the appearance of a lizard with dozens of legs, and a cavernous maw that leads to an even more cavernous gullet
The journal of monster hunter Alistair Wake has the following to say on Behir “I encountered one on a journey deep into the deep caverns of the underdark once. Nasty, hungry creatures, as intelligent, if not more so, than a man such as me, but unable or unwilling to put its intelligence to any use besides to sate its hunger and bloodlust. A behir has an insatiable appetite, devouring livestock, mortals, monsters, and local wildlife like a raging wildfire, its stomach is far larger than it appears to be from the outside, and extraordinarily tough, though not as I found out, tough enough to survive a horn of and a half of gunpowder going inside its guts without vomiting.
Besides its hunger, behirs also have a particular hatred of dragon kind. Though nowhere nearly as threatening as such creatures in combat, a hehir has the intelligence and lifespan required to combat a dragon in its plots, and nothing pleases it as much as knowing that a powerful dragon has suffered from its actions. Thus, Behir can be valauble allies if you need to fight a particularly ambitious dragon, provided one can prove their more valuable as tools than as food.”
